What to see in Porto-Vecchio

1. Plage de Palombaggia
   Palombaggia stretches out fine pale sand between red porphyry rocks and a fringe of umbrella pines, facing very clear water.
2. Plage de Santa Giulia
   A long curve of pale sand lapped by very shallow, turquoise water that feels almost like a lagoon.
3. Citadelle de Porto-Vecchio
   Set on a rocky headland above the gulf, the citadel is the Genoese historic heart of Porto-Vecchio, well away from the bustle of the harbour.
4. Aiguilles de Bavella
   Jagged peaks, great walls of pink granite and wind-twisted Corsican pines rise above a pass at more than 1,200 m.
5. Bonifacio (falaises)
   The white limestone cliffs of Bonifacio, carved by the sea, carry the old town on their edge as if it were hanging above the turquoise water.
6. Réserve de Scandola / Lavezzi (excursion bateau)
   This archipelago of granite rocks between Corsica and Sardinia can only be reached by sea, which is what keeps it feeling wild.
7. Marché de Porto-Vecchio
   The market in central Porto-Vecchio is a good way to taste southern Corsica through the people who produce it.
8. A Cantina di l'Orriu
   This Corsican wine bar and restaurant sits on cours Napoléon in the centre of Porto-Vecchio, next to the L'Orriu delicatessen.
