What to see in Jaipur

1. Fort d'Amber
   The fort sits on a hill above Maota Lake, with walls that follow the ridgelines.
2. Hawa Mahal
   This honeycomb-like façade, pierced by more than nine hundred small latticed windows, was designed so that the women of the court could watch street life without being seen.
3. City Palace
   The City Palace sits at the heart of Jaipur's old royal quarter, with paved courtyards, pastel pavilions and buildings that are still partly lived in by the royal family.
4. Jantar Mantar
   It is one of five stone observatories built in the 18th century on the orders of the maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, and the only one listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with its counterparts.
5. Fort de Nahargarh (coucher de soleil)
   Perched on the Aravalli ridge, the fort looks down over the Pink City and its ochre rooftops.
6. Johari Bazaar
   Johari Bazaar is the main jewellery market of Jaipur's old walled city, inside the so-called Pink City.
7. Jal Mahal
   Jal Mahal seems to float in the middle of Man Sagar Lake, with the Aravalli hills rising behind it.
8. Albert Hall Museum
   The oldest museum in Rajasthan, it sits in an Indo-Saracenic building in Ram Niwas Garden, just outside the old city wall.
