What to see in Goa

1. Plage de Palolem
   Palolem is a crescent-shaped bay lined with palm trees and bamboo shacks, with calm, shallow water that suits an easy swim.
2. Plage d'Anjuna & marché aux puces
   Anjuna's flea market, set on the sand near the beach, is one of Goa's historic gatherings, rooted in the hippie scene of the 1960s and 1970s.
3. Vieux Goa (Basilique de Bom Jesus)
   This Baroque basilica in Old Goa, built between 1594 and 1605, holds the tomb of Saint Francis Xavier, one of the major Catholic pilgrimage sites in Asia.
4. Fort Aguada
   Built in the early seventeenth century to guard the mouth of the Mandovi and the ships that came to take on fresh water, the fort still carries the marks of Portuguese rule in Goa.
5. Plage de Vagator & Chapora
   Vagator and Chapora form a long bay backed by red laterite cliffs, facing the Arabian Sea.
6. Fontainhas (Panaji)
   Fontainhas is a residential quarter of Portuguese-style houses painted in bright colours, where the facades, wooden balconies and narrow paved lanes still carry the imprint of the colonial era.
7. Dudhsagar (chutes)
   Dudhsagar Falls drop in several tiers through dense forest in eastern Goa, close to the border with Karnataka.
8. Plage de Baga
   Baga Beach is one of the liveliest beaches in North Goa, with a long stretch of pale sand, rows of beach shacks set right on the sand, and a mood that shifts noticeably from daytime to sunset.
