What to see in Sydney

1. Opéra de Sydney
   Set at the tip of Bennelong Point and facing the harbour, the Sydney Opera House is a building you think you know from postcards, yet it still surprises up close, with white tiled shells that shift colour with the light.

   Climbing the steel arch lets you see Sydney from above, with the harbour opening out on both sides and the city's bustle fading below.
3. Bondi Beach & Coastal Walk
   Bondi brings together Sydney's beach life, with surfers, swimmers and families, and the start of a clifftop path cut along the coast.
4. The Rocks
   This is where Sydney began, and you can feel it in the cobbled lanes, sandstone warehouses and old workers' cottages stepping down towards the cove.
5. Taronga Zoo
   Taronga Zoo sits on a hillside running down to Sydney Harbour, so you can watch giraffes and koalas with the Opera House and the city towers in the background.
6. Jardin botanique royal
   This large garden sits right on the harbour next to the Opera House, a real green pause in the middle of the city.
7. Manly (ferry)
   Manly is a place you reach by water: the harbour crossing from Circular Quay is part of the outing, with the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge slipping away behind you.
8. Darling Harbour
   This car-free waterfront district on the western edge of the CBD brings together museums, gardens, restaurants and big leisure venues.
