What to see in Brisbane

1. South Bank Parklands (Streets Beach)
   A proper sandy beach with a lagoon, set right in the city beside the Brisbane River and facing the downtown towers.
2. Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
   Founded in 1927, this is the world's oldest koala sanctuary and one of the largest.
3. Story Bridge
   With its big steel cantilever frame, the Story Bridge is Brisbane's most recognisable landmark, linking Fortitude Valley and Kangaroo Point across the river.
4. Mont Coot-tha (belvédère)
   Up on the hills west of the city, Brisbane opens out all at once: the CBD, the river looping through it, then the plain stretching toward the bay.
5. Surfers Paradise (Gold Coast)
   This is the Gold Coast's best-known beach, a long stretch of sand facing the Coral Sea and backed by a row of towers that make up a skyline you will recognise at once.
6. Warner Bros. Movie World (Gold Coast)
   This park in the northern Gold Coast uses Hollywood film as its setting, with a studio-style main street, superheroes and cartoon characters.
7. Dreamworld
   Dreamworld is the Gold Coast's big theme park, in Coomera between Brisbane and Surfers Paradise.
8. Eat Street Northshore (marché)
   This night market, built from recycled shipping containers on the banks of the Brisbane River, brings together food stalls from many different cuisines.
