What to see in Koh Samui

1. Big Buddha (Wat Phra Yai)
   A large, golden seated Buddha rises from a small islet joined to the island's north-east coast, and you can spot it from a distance before you arrive.
2. Plage de Chaweng
   This is the main beach on the east coast of Koh Samui, a long stretch of pale sand lined with coconut palms, with shallow water and a lively seaside feel.
3. Plage de Lamai
   Lamai is a long crescent of sand on the east coast of Koh Samui, more relaxed than its big neighbour Chaweng.
4. Cascade de Na Muang
   In the island's green interior, Na Muang Waterfall is a cool break from the beaches, with a natural pool where you can swim at the foot of the falls.
5. Fisherman's Village (Bophut)
   This small neighbourhood on the north coast has kept its old wooden shophouses along the beach, now home to shops, cafes and restaurants, and its single street still feels like a former fishing village.
6. Hin Ta & Hin Yai
   These two sea-carved rocks at the southern end of Lamai Beach have a local legend attached to them and a name that tends to raise a smile.
7. Ang Thong (excursion)
   This archipelago of around forty limestone islands off Koh Samui has green-clad cliffs, hidden lagoons and very clear water.
8. Koh Phangan (Full Moon, excursion)
   On Haad Rin beach, the Full Moon party draws thousands of travellers from around the world every month, barefoot on the sand while sets blend from one bar to the next.
