What to see in Chiang Mai

1. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
   This Theravada temple sits on the mountain above Chiang Mai, and people come as much to pray as to take in the view.
2. Vieille ville & Wat Chedi Luang
   Chiang Mai's old city sits inside a square of moats and surviving fragments of wall, with temples never more than a few minutes' walk apart.
3. Sunday Walking Street
   Every Sunday, Ratchadamnoen Road closes to traffic and becomes a long pedestrian market running through the old city, from Tha Phae Gate to Wat Phra Singh.
4. Marché de Warorot
   This is Chiang Mai's big everyday market, where locals still come to do their shopping.
5. Elephant Nature Park
   This sanctuary takes in elephants that were mistreated or worn out by years of work with humans, and you watch them live as a herd, with no riding and no shows.
6. Nimmanhaemin
   Nimmanhaemin is Chiang Mai's youngest and most creative neighbourhood, a mix of specialty coffee shops, designer boutiques, galleries and lively terraces.
7. Wat Phra Singh
   It is one of the most important temples in Chiang Mai, and the best place to understand Lanna architecture, with its tiered roofs and gilded façades.
8. Cours de cuisine thaïe (Thai Farm)
   You cook out in the countryside, on a farm that grows some of the herbs and vegetables you end up using.
