What to see in Foz do Iguaçu

  1. Chutes d'Iguaçu (côté brésilien)
The Brazilian side gives you the big picture: you walk along the river facing dozens of waterfalls pouring through tropical forest, then end up right next to the water.
  2. Chutes d'Iguazú (côté argentin, Garganta del Diablo)
At the end of a long walkway over the river, the Iguazú pours all at once into a horseshoe-shaped gorge, with a roar you feel in your chest.
  3. Parque das Aves
You walk inside large aviaries planted with Atlantic Forest vegetation, and the birds move around you rather than sitting behind a fence.
  4. Barrage d'Itaipu
Itaipu was built jointly by Brazil and Paraguay on the Paraná river, and it is one of the places where you can best grasp the scale of modern engineering.
  5. Marco das Três Fronteiras
This is where the Iguaçu River flows into the Paraná, with Argentina and Paraguay each on their own bank.
  6. Macuco Safari (bateau)
This boat takes you to the foot of Iguaçu Falls, where the roar of the water and the spray replace the views from the walkways.
  7. Temple bouddhiste
In a city better known for waterfalls and nature, this temple is a quiet and unexpected pause, built in a Chinese-inspired style.
  8. Ciudad del Este (marché, Paraguay)
Across the Ponte da Amizade, Ciudad del Este is a vast marketplace of open-air streets and covered arcades, where people come from all over the region to compare, haggle and leave with full bags.
