What to see in Cancún

1. Zone hôtelière (Playa Delfines)
   This is one of the longest and most open public beaches in the hotel zone, with wide skies, pale sand and turquoise water facing east.
2. Isla Mujeres (excursion)
   Just a short crossing from Cancún, this small island runs at a completely different pace: you get around by golf cart, the streets are quiet and the water is a very clear turquoise.
3. Chichén Itzá (excursion)
   Chichén Itzá is one of the great Maya cities of the northern Yucatán, and its stepped pyramid rises out of the low jungle.
4. Cenote Dos Ojos
   Two large water-filled chambers joined beneath the rock give the place its name, the "two eyes".
5. Musée maya de Cancún
   In a hotel zone ruled by the beach, this museum is a reminder that the region is first of all Maya land.
6. Mercado 28
   This downtown market sits well away from the hotel zone and shows the Cancún where residents actually live.
7. Isla Contoy
   This small protected island north of Isla Mujeres is one of the last places on this coast where the Caribbean feels almost untouched.
8. Xcaret
   Xcaret brings together Maya remains, cenotes, underground rivers and local wildlife in one park on the Caribbean coast.
