What to see in Queenstown

1. Skyline Gondola & Bob's Peak
   The gondola climbs the slopes of Bob's Peak in a few minutes and opens up the whole Queenstown setting at once: Lake Wakatipu far below and mountains in every direction.
2. Milford Sound (excursion)
   This Fiordland fjord has walls that drop almost sheer into dark water, under waterfalls that change from one day to the next.
3. Saut à l'élastique Kawarau Bridge
   This is regarded as the world's first commercial bungy site, and it feels like it: an old stone and steel bridge strung over a gorge of turquoise water.
4. Shotover Jet
   A jet boat tears through the narrow gorges of the Shotover River, passing within a few feet of the rock walls.
5. Lac Wakatipu (TSS Earnslaw)
   Lake Wakatipu stretches between mountains that drop straight into the water, and the best way to take it in is aboard the TSS Earnslaw, a coal-fired steamship from another era.
6. Ben Lomond (randonnée)
   This summit rises above Queenstown and gives one of the finest panoramas in the region, with Lake Wakatipu spread out below and mountain ranges stretching to the horizon.
7. Arrowtown
   Arrowtown is a former gold rush town whose centre still has the scale and look of the 19th century, set below mountains that change colour with the seasons.
8. Glenorchy
   Glenorchy is a small village at the head of Lake Wakatipu, ringed by mountains that drop straight into the water and by quiet glacial valleys.
