What to see in Marrakech

1. Place Jemaa el-Fna
   This square is the living heart of Marrakech's medina and is recognized by UNESCO as a masterpiece of oral and intangible heritage.
2. Jardin Majorelle
   Designed by the painter Jacques Majorelle from 1923 onward, the garden is built around a cobalt blue that you will not find anywhere else in the medina.
3. Palais de la Bahia
   Built at the end of the 19th century for a grand vizier, the palace unfolds as a sequence of courtyards, rooms and gardens, moving from harsh sunlight to cool shade.
4. Médersa Ben Youssef
   The Ben Youssef Madrasa was once the largest Koranic school in the Maghreb, rebuilt in the 16th century under the Saadians.
5. Souks de la médina
   The maze of the medina souks is the commercial heart of Marrakech, a network of covered alleys where each street is devoted to a trade: textiles, leather, metalwork, spices, ceramics.
6. Koutoubia
   The Koutoubia is Marrakech's largest mosque, and its minaret has marked the skyline of the medina for more than eight centuries.
7. Tombeaux saadiens
   This royal necropolis from the sixteenth century, hidden behind the walls of the kasbah, offers a striking contrast with the bustle of the medina.
8. Jardin de la Ménara
   This large olive grove, laid out under the Almohad dynasty, offers a calm, almost rural atmosphere far from the bustle of the medina.
