What to see in Honolulu

1. Waikiki Beach
   Waikiki is a long city beach lined with hotels, with Diamond Head closing off the skyline to the east.
2. Diamond Head
   This wedge-shaped volcanic cone towers over Waikiki and gives one of the clearest views on Oahu: the city, the coastline and the Pacific in a single sweep.
3. Pearl Harbor (USS Arizona)
   The white memorial rests above the wreck of the battleship sunk in the attack of 7 December 1941, where many sailors still lie.
4. Hanauma Bay (snorkeling)
   A bay carved into an ancient volcanic crater, with calm, shallow water where you can swim among reef fish just a few steps from the shore.
5. Palais Iolani
   It is the only royal palace on American soil, and from the inside it tells the story of the end of the Hawaiian monarchy, caught between ambition for modernity and political upheaval.
6. Lanikai Beach
   A long stretch of pale sand beside calm water, facing the two Mokulua islets that give the view its postcard look.
7. North Shore (Waimea Bay)
   This crescent of golden sand looks completely different depending on the season.
8. Manoa Falls
   A waterfall of about 150 feet at the end of a rainforest trail, only minutes from central Honolulu.
