What to see in New York

1. Central Park
   Central Park gives Manhattan a green breathing space, with open lawns, water and paths that change character from one section to the next.
2. Metropolitan Museum of Art
   The Met brings together collections spanning five thousand years of human history, from ancient Egypt to contemporary art.
3. Statue de la Liberté & Ellis Island
   The statue stands on Liberty Island, facing Manhattan, and its silhouette makes it the most recognisable symbol of New York.
4. Times Square
   Times Square is where Broadway meets Seventh Avenue, and its enormous illuminated screens give the place an intensity that is hard to match, especially after dark.
5. Empire State Building
   From the top of the Empire State Building you look straight down the grid of Manhattan, with the Hudson, the East River and Central Park all in view.
6. Brooklyn Bridge
   The bridge links Manhattan and Brooklyn across an elevated pedestrian walkway above the traffic, and as you cross, the Lower Manhattan skyline seems to draw closer with every step.
7. High Line
   This former freight rail line, raised above the streets of Chelsea and the Meatpacking District, has been turned into a planted public walkway.
8. MoMA
   MoMA holds one of the richest collections of modern and contemporary art in the world, spanning painting, design, architecture and photography.
