What to see in Anchorage

1. Tony Knowles Coastal Trail
   This paved trail follows Cook Inlet for about eleven miles, from downtown Anchorage to Kincaid Park.
2. Alaska Native Heritage Center
   This cultural center introduces the many Indigenous peoples of Alaska, with the communities telling their own stories.
3. Flattop Mountain
   From the flattened summit above Anchorage, you take in the city, Cook Inlet and the surrounding mountains in a single sweep.
4. Anchorage Museum
   This is the best way to make sense of Alaska before heading out into the wilderness: Alaska Native cultures, state history, northern art and climate science all sit under one roof.
5. Glacier Portage (excursion)
   Portage Glacier is one of the easiest outings from Anchorage, reached by the scenic road along Turnagain Arm at the foot of the Chugach Mountains.
6. Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center
   This center cares for injured, orphaned and captive-born Alaskan animals in large enclosures at the foot of the mountains, at the head of Turnagain Arm.
7. Marché du week-end (Anchorage Market)
   This is Anchorage's big open-air market, held on summer weekends, where you meet the region's makers and growers.
8. Kenai Fjords (Seward, croisière)
   From Seward's harbor, the boat leaves Resurrection Bay and heads for a coastline of glacier-carved fjords, where mountains drop straight into the sea.
