What to see in Ushuaia

  1. Parc national Tierra del Fuego
This is the southernmost inhabited edge of the world: southern beech forests, peat bogs and mountains dropping into the Beagle Channel, just a few kilometres from Ushuaia.
  2. Canal de Beagle (croisière, phare Les Éclaireurs)
Sailing the Beagle Channel from Ushuaia means following one of the southernmost straits in the world, between snow-capped mountains and cold, dark water.
  3. Glacier Martial
From the slopes of Cerro Martial, Ushuaia spreads out below you, squeezed between the mountains and the Beagle Channel.
  4. Train du Bout du Monde
This narrow-gauge train follows the route of an old line built to carry Ushuaia's prisoners to the forests where they cut timber.
  5. Musée de la Prison
These walls explain how Ushuaia began: as a place of exile and confinement at the far end of the continent.
  6. Laguna Esmeralda (randonnée)
Laguna Esmeralda is a half-day hike from Ushuaia that crosses forest, peat bogs and a glacial valley before reaching a milky blue-green lake.
  7. Port d'Ushuaia
This is where the town meets the Beagle Channel, with snowy mountains behind and a real sense of standing at the end of the world.
  8. Musée du Bout du Monde
Before you head out walking in Tierra del Fuego, this museum gives you the keys to what you are about to see: the wildlife, the first peoples and the story of the earliest settlers.
