What to see in Shanghai

  1. The Bund
The Bund sets two eras of Shanghai side by side: the neoclassical and Art Deco facades of the former International Settlement on one bank, and the towers of Lujiazui rising across the Huangpu on the other.
  2. Yu Garden & bazar
This classical Ming-era garden gives you a quiet pause in the heart of the old city, with pavilions, ponds and rockeries.
  3. Shanghai Tower (Lujiazui)
At 632 meters, with a silhouette that twists up into the sky, Shanghai Tower dominates Lujiazui, and the view from the top shows you the whole scale of the city.
  4. Concession française (Wukang Rd)
This is the best place to see why the former French Concession is still the most pleasant part of Shanghai to explore on foot.
  5. Musée de Shanghai
This museum of ancient Chinese art lets you walk through thousands of years of craftsmanship in a handful of galleries, right in the middle of People's Square.
  6. Tianzifang
This maze of narrow alleys, a former lilong of shikumen houses in the French Concession, still mixes laundry hanging from windows with artists' studios and small shops.
  7. Nanjing Road
The pedestrian section of Nanjing Road is one of the busiest shopping streets in the world.
  8. Jia Jia Tang Bao
This is a well-known Shanghai address for xiaolongbao, the small steamed dumplings that hold a hot broth inside their wrapper.
