What to see in Naples

1. Centro Storico & Spaccanapoli
   Spaccanapoli is the long, straight street that slices the historic center of Naples in two, and it is where the city shows itself most openly: laundry on balconies, workshops, churches, scooters and conversations shouted from window to window.
2. Musée archéologique national
   Much of the treasure of Pompeii and Herculaneum ended up here, lifted out of its setting but still full of feeling.
3. Castel dell'Ovo
   Set on the little islet of Megaride, the city's oldest castle juts into the bay with Vesuvius behind it.
4. Pompéi
   Pompeii is a Roman town frozen by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79, where you walk real streets lined with shops, houses and frescoes.
5. Chapelle Sansevero
   This small baroque chapel in the historic centre holds a group of sculptures of astonishing virtuosity in a very tight space.
6. Vomero & Castel Sant'Elmo
   Set on top of the Vomero hill, Castel Sant'Elmo gives one of the finest views in Naples: the whole city, the bay and Vesuvius spread out in a single glance.
7. Lungomare
   The lungomare is Naples' great seafront promenade along the bay, with Vesuvius as a backdrop and the whole city slowing down to look at the water.
8. L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele
   Da Michele is one of Naples' most famous pizza addresses, and its approach is strikingly simple: just two pizzas, the Margherita and the Marinara, cooked to order.
