What to see in Luxor

1. Temple de Karnak
   Karnak is one of the largest religious complexes ever built, extended over more than a thousand years in honour of the god Amun.
2. Vallée des Rois
   This rocky valley on the west bank of the Nile held the tombs of New Kingdom rulers for nearly five centuries, carved deep into the cliffs in near silence.
3. Temple de Louxor
   This temple, dedicated to the god Amun, stands in the heart of ancient Thebes on the east bank of the Nile.
4. Temple d'Hatchepsout
   The temple rises in terraces against the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, facing the Nile valley, and its colonnades draw lines of remarkable clarity for a monument this old.
5. Colosses de Memnon
   These two seated stone statues, roughly 18 metres tall, are all that remains of the funerary temple of Amenhotep III, which has long since vanished.
6. Musée de Louxor
   The Luxor Museum is one of the few places in the city where ancient objects are shown with room to breathe, away from the crowds of the temples.
7. Montgolfière au lever du soleil
   Few experiences give such a clear view of the temples, fields and river of Thebes.
8. Felouque & île aux Bananes
   A felucca ride on the Nile, with its white sail and the quiet of the water, is one of the calmest moments in Luxor, far from the bustle of the temples.
