What to see in Interlaken

  1. Harder Kulm
Set 1,322 metres above Interlaken, this viewpoint looks straight down on the town, squeezed between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz.
  2. Jungfraujoch (départ Interlaken Ost)
The Jungfraujoch is a high mountain pass at 3,454 metres, reached by train from the green meadows of the Bernese Oberland, passing through the Eiger and the Mönch from the inside.
  3. Höheweg & Höhematte
Höheweg is the promenade running through the middle of Interlaken, lined with grand nineteenth-century hotels, and the Höhematte is the broad lawn beside it.
  4. Lac de Brienz (Bönigen)
Lake Brienz, fed by the Aare, has that milky turquoise colour that glacial meltwater gives, and the Bönigen shore is a calm, easy way to reach it, away from the bustle of Interlaken.
  5. Schynige Platte
A cog railway carries you up through forest and pasture to a lookout facing the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, with Lake Thun and Lake Brienz far below.
  6. Lac de Thoune (Neuhaus)
Neuhaus sits at the eastern end of Lake Thun, where the Aare flows into the lake, just minutes from Interlaken.
  7. Restaurant Taverne
The Taverne is the restaurant of Hotel Interlaken on the Höheweg, in a building whose history, according to the hotel, goes back to the Middle Ages.
  8. Hüsi Bierhaus
Opened in 2014 just off Interlaken's main street, Hüsi is a brewpub where the craft beer is brewed on site and the food is hearty.
