What to see in Geneva

  1. Jet d'Eau
The Jet d'Eau is the landmark of the harbour: a white column 140 metres tall, visible from far away, which instantly gives you the scale of the lake.
  2. Vieille Ville & Cathédrale Saint-Pierre
Set on the hill above the lake, Geneva's old town weaves cobbled lanes, quiet squares and old houses around the cathedral where Calvin preached.
  3. Palais des Nations
Built for the League of Nations and later home to the United Nations, this complex is where many of the twentieth century's great diplomatic debates took place.
  4. Musée d'Art et d'Histoire
This is Geneva's great museum, where a single visit takes you through archaeology, fine arts and applied arts.
  5. Jardin Anglais & Horloge fleurie
This lakeside garden brings together two symbols of Geneva within a few steps: watchmaking, in the flower clock, and the city's history, in its national monument.
  6. Bains des Pâquis
The Bains des Pâquis is a much-loved public bathing spot where locals swim, read or have a drink out on the harbour, with the city right behind.
  7. Café du Centre
Open on Place du Molard since 1933, Café du Centre is one of the oldest brasseries in Geneva.
  8. Les Armures
Set in a 17th-century building in the Old Town, this hotel restaurant serves classic Swiss cooking among exposed beams, stone and old woodwork.
