What to see in Innsbruck

  1. Goldenes Dachl
This ceremonial balcony under a roof of gilded copper tiles is the emblem of Innsbruck's old town.
  2. Nordkette (Hungerburgbahn)
In a few minutes you go from the centre of Innsbruck to the high mountains, without leaving public transport or changing out of your city clothes.
  3. Bergisel Sprungschanze
The ski jump designed by Zaha Hadid stands slim and sharp above Innsbruck and doubles as a viewpoint over the city, the Inn valley and the Nordkette range.
  4. Hofburg Innsbruck
The former Habsburg residence in the heart of Innsbruck owes its present look to the great Baroque and Rococo remodelling of the 18th century under Maria Theresa.
  5. Schloss Ambras
High above Innsbruck, this Renaissance castle was rebuilt by Archduke Ferdinand II for his wife Philippine Welser, and it houses one of the earliest princely collections designed as a museum.
  6. Altstadt
Innsbruck's old town is a tight web of narrow lanes lined with arcades and colourful façades, with the Nordkette peaks rising at the end of almost every view.
  7. Stiftskeller
This large beer hall sits in the old town between the Landestheater and the Golden Roof, serving straightforward Tyrolean food in a Bavarian-style setting.
  8. Die Wilderin
In a small timber-panelled room in the old town, die Wilderin cooks with produce from Alpine farms and uses the whole animal.
