What to see in Easter Island

1. Rano Raraku (carrière des moaï)
   Most of the island's moai were carved from the volcanic rock of this crater before being moved to the coastal platforms.
2. Ahu Tongariki
   Fifteen moai stand in a line on the island's largest ceremonial platform, facing inland with the ocean at their backs.
3. Anakena (plage)
   Anakena is one of the few white sand beaches on the island, set along the north coast and lined with palm trees.
4. Orongo & Rano Kau
   With a vast crater filled with water and reeds on one side and a cliff dropping into the ocean on the other, Orongo puts you at the edge of Rapa Nui's world.
5. Ahu Tahai (coucher de soleil)
   Three ceremonial platforms a short walk from Hanga Roa, where the moai stand silhouetted against the Pacific as the sun goes down.
6. Ahu Akivi
   Ahu Akivi is one of the few ahu whose seven moai face the ocean rather than inland.
7. Hanga Roa (village)
   Hanga Roa is the only real village on the island and the base for almost every stay: you sleep here, eat here and see everyday Rapa Nui life between site visits.
8. Musée Sebastián Englert
   This small museum in Hanga Roa gives you the keys to understand the island before you go and see the moai in the field.
