What to see in Busan

  1. Plage de Haeundae
This is Busan's big city beach: a long ribbon of sand facing open water, with a wall of glass towers right behind it.
  2. Village culturel de Gamcheon
Brightly painted houses climb the hillside in tiers above the sea, in a neighborhood that grew out of the refugee settlements of the Korean War.
  3. Marché aux poissons de Jagalchi
This is Busan's great fish market, right by the harbor, and the place where the city's bond with the sea is easiest to feel.
  4. Temple Haedong Yonggungsa
Few Buddhist temples open onto the ocean like this one: brightly painted roofs cling to the rocks and the sound of waves follows you everywhere.
  5. Plage de Gwangalli
A long crescent of sand facing the Gwangan Bridge, which lights up after dark and gives the bay a mood that is both urban and relaxed.
  6. Marché Gukje
Born in the aftermath of the Korean War, this market in the heart of Busan is a maze of covered lanes where you can still feel the drive of the traders who have kept it going across generations.
  7. Taejongdae
At the southern tip of Yeongdo island, Taejongdae has cliffs that drop straight into the sea and a real sense of open space, far from the density of central Busan.
  8. Gaemijip (Haeundae)
This Gunam-ro address, a short walk from Haeundae beach, specializes in nakgopsae, the Busan dish of octopus, pork intestines and shrimp stir-fried together in a spicy sauce.
