What to see in Windhoek

1. Sossusvlei & Deadvlei
   In the heart of the Namib, orange dunes rise around a pale clay pan where dead camelthorn trees have stood for centuries under an enormous sky.
2. Dune 45
   Dune 45 is one of the most photographed dunes in Sossusvlei, its clean, sculpted ridge standing out against the red sand.
3. Christuskirche
   The Christuskirche is one of the most recognisable buildings in Windhoek.
4. Musée de l'Indépendance

   Katutura took shape in the late 1950s and early 1960s, when the apartheid authorities relocated Windhoek's Black residents to this area.
6. Namibia Craft Centre
   This centre brings together crafts from several regions of Namibia under one roof, so you can compare techniques in a few minutes.
7. Canyon de Sesriem
   This narrow passage, cut into the sediment by the river, is framed by walls that sometimes rise several dozen metres.
8. Swakopmund (excursion)
   Swakopmund is a seaside town set between the Atlantic Ocean and the Namib Desert, where the dunes sometimes reach the shoreline.
