What to see in Kampala
- Gorilles de Bwindi (trek)
Bwindi forest is home to a significant share of the world's remaining mountain gorillas, and spending time with a family used to human presence is an unusually intense experience. - Source du Nil (Jinja, excursion)
This is where the Nile begins its long journey to the Mediterranean, as it leaves Lake Victoria. - Tombes des Kabakas (Kasubi)
The Kasubi Tombs hold the burial place of several kings of Buganda and were listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. - Mosquée nationale de l'Ouganda
One of the largest mosques in the country, set on the hill of Old Kampala, it overlooks the capital and its corrugated iron roofs. - Musée de l'Ouganda
Founded in 1908, it is the oldest museum in the country. - Marché d'Owino (St Balikuddembe)
It is one of the largest open-air markets in East Africa, right in the heart of Kampala, where fabric sellers, clothing and shoe traders, household goods vendors and second-hand electronics dealers share the same dense maze of stalls. - Ndere Cultural Centre
The centre is home to the Ndere Troupe, which presents traditional dance and music from several Ugandan communities in a setting designed for visitors. - Lac Victoria (Entebbe, plage)
Lake Victoria, Africa's largest lake, feels here like a genuinely local place: the water stretches to the horizon, fishing boats come and go through the day, and the pace of the city slows right down.
