What to see in Helsinki

1. Cathédrale d'Helsinki
   With its white walls and green domes, the cathedral looks down on Senate Square from the top of its wide staircase and sums up the neoclassical face of central Helsinki.
2. Suomenlinna
   A sea fortress spread across several islands, where you wander between ramparts, lawns and waterfront, only a short ferry ride from central Helsinki.
3. Temppeliaukio (église de roche)
   This Lutheran church was cut straight into the granite in the middle of a residential neighbourhood.
4. Marché du port (Kauppatori)
   Set right on the water facing the South Harbour, the square brings together the smell of the sea, colourful stalls and ferries leaving for the islands.
5. Allas Sea Pool
   Pools built right over the sea, on the harbour in the heart of Helsinki, so you swim facing the city in a way that you can't anywhere else.
6. Musée Ateneum
   The Ateneum is where you see how Finland pictured itself as a nation through painting, from lakes and forests to scenes of legend.
7. Löyly (sauna)
   Löyly is a public sauna on the Baltic shore in Hernesaari, set in a sculpted timber building that opens onto the sea.
8. Vanha Kauppahalli
   This red-brick hall by the South Harbour is one of the oldest in Helsinki and still works as a real place to shop, not just a showcase for visitors.
