What to see in Dublin

  1. Trinity College & Book of Kells
Ireland's oldest college holds one of the best-known manuscripts of the Christian world, and within a few steps you go from quiet cobbles on campus to a library hall that takes your breath away.
  2. Guinness Storehouse
Set in a former fermentation building of the St James's Gate brewery, this place tells the story of Guinness and its deep ties to Dublin.
  3. Temple Bar
This maze of cobbled lanes on the south bank of the Liffey packs pubs, live music, galleries and small squares into a few blocks beside Trinity College.
  4. Dublin Castle
Dublin Castle is no fairytale fortress: it is a place where eight centuries of power can be read, from medieval remains to eighteenth-century state rooms.
  5. St Stephen's Green
A Victorian park in the heart of Dublin, where people from the nearby offices eat lunch on the grass as soon as the sun appears.
  6. Kilmainham Gaol
This former prison tells much of the story of Irish independence through the people held here, including the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising.
  7. The Winding Stair
Set above a bookshop on Ormond Quay, this restaurant looks straight out over the River Liffey and the Ha'penny Bridge.
  8. Chapter One
Chapter One sits in the basement of a handsome Georgian house on Parnell Square, and its contemporary Irish cooking is built around producers from across the country.
