What to see in Baku
- Vieille ville (Icherisheher) & Tour de la Vierge
The old town inside the walls is still home to thousands of residents, set among medieval monuments, mosques and caravanserais. - Flame Towers
The three towers, whose flame-shaped facades catch the light, form the most recognisable silhouette in Baku. - Centre Heydar Aliyev
Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and opened in 2012, the building has no right angles: floors, walls and roof merge into one continuous white surface of curves. - Boulevard de Bakou
The boulevard runs for several kilometres along the Caspian Sea and serves as the city's promenade, used by families, joggers and couples in the evening. - Gobustan (pétroglyphes & volcans de boue)
Gobustan brings together on one site rock carvings that document several millennia of life on the shores of the Caspian Sea, and a landscape of mud volcanoes and standing stones that is rarely seen in this combination. - Yanar Dag
A natural gas flame has been burning here permanently on a hillside, fed by gas seeping up through a thin layer of porous sandstone. - Musée du Tapis
The first carpet museum in the world, founded in 1967, it traces the central place of carpet weaving in Azerbaijani culture. - Palais des Shirvanshahs
The Shirvanshahs' Palace is the historic heart of Baku's Old City, Icherisheher.
