What to see in Addis Ababa

1. Musée national (Lucy)
   The museum houses Lucy, the Australopithecus afarensis skeleton found in 1974 in the Hadar region of the Afar, dated to about 3.2 million years ago.
2. Mont Entoto
   Mount Entoto rises above Addis Ababa to over 3,000 metres.
3. Merkato
   Merkato is one of the largest open-air markets in Africa, spread across an entire district of Addis Ababa.
4. Cathédrale de la Sainte-Trinité
   This is one of the great churches of the Ethiopian capital, where a European-style building houses murals and stained glass in traditional Ethiopian style.
5. Musée ethnographique
   Set on the campus of Addis Ababa University, in a building tied to imperial life, this museum shows the everyday objects, jewellery, clothing and musical instruments of Ethiopia's many peoples.
6. Unity Park
   Unity Park is a rare green space in the heart of the capital, set within the grounds of the National Palace in Arat Kilo.
7. Lalibela (excursion)
   These churches were not built but carved downward out of the rock, and they are linked by trenches and passageways.
8. Piazza
   Piassa is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Addis Ababa.
